From left to right: Yaakov Avni, Robert (Haim) Belmaker and Samuel Gershon, three teachers and colleagues who pivotally influenced Bernard Lerer's career in psychiatry and psychiatric research. Avni  was his first clinical supervisor in the Department of Psychiatry at Hadassah University Hospital, Jerusalem, 1974-1977; Belmaker was his research supervisor in the Research Laboratory of Ezrath-Nashim Hospital, Jerusalem, 1978-1982; and Gershon   was his  research fellowship supervisor at Lafayette Clinic, Wayne State University, Detroit, 1982-1984.
