            Tom Ban's e-book is outstanding and clearly predicted research efforts which have been undertaken over the last decade and a half.  Progress has been made identifying subgroups of patients who respond to various treatment approaches including a subgroup of treatment-resistant MDDs who show a rapid and dramatic response to low-dose ketamine.  The most recent statistical data from the World Health Organization ranks depression #1 of all medical disorders in terms of lifetime disability.  Therefore, Tom Ban has addressed critical components in the ongoing effort to treat and eventually prevent major depressive disorder.
